EUNICoast launches a joint training on Marine Pollution and Coastal Health, co-organised by Université Le Havre Normandie and the University of the Balearic Islands.
Developed within HUB 4 – Health, Biodiversity Protection, Nature-based Solutions, and Sustainable Exploration of Coastal and Marine Resources, this initiative tackles climate change impacts, biodiversity conservation and pollution pressures affecting island and coastal territories.
Experiential and Transnational Learning
Hosted in the Balearic Islands, the five-day in-person programme provides direct engagement with Mediterranean ecosystems . Participants conduct field sampling, laboratory analyses and collaborative investigations into real pollution cases.
The training brings together expertise from EUNICoast partner institutions and follows a student-centred, challenge-based approach aligned with the EUNICoast Educational Model.
Integrating the One Health Perspective
A central pillar of the programme is the One Health framework, linking ecosystem integrity and human wellbeing . Participants assess pollutant pathways, apply biomonitoring techniques and design evidence-based responses to coastal degradation.
Through stakeholder interaction and group projects, the training bridges academic research and local realities, strengthening sustainability literacy and solution-oriented thinking.
