EUNICoast invites students and postdoctoral fellows from its partner universities to apply for a Blended Intensive Programme on participatory approaches and conflict mediation in socio-ecological systems, hosted in Oristano, Sardinia.
About the Programme
Organised by the University of Sassari (Italy) in collaboration with Hochschule Stralsund (Germany), Burgas Free University (Bulgaria), and University of the Balearic Islands (Spain), this programme addresses one of the most pressing challenges in environmental governance: how to manage conflicts over natural resources in a way that is inclusive, sustainable, and grounded in local realities.
The programme combines two online sessions with five days of on-site learning in Oristano. Over the course of the week, participants will move from theoretical foundations to applied tools, with field visits, group work, and student presentations at the heart of the experience.
What You Will Learn
Participants will examine the causes and dynamics of environmental conflicts within socio-ecological systems, explore governance frameworks for sustainable resource management, and develop practical skills in dialogue, negotiation, and conflict mediation. The programme fosters interdisciplinary thinking and prepares students to engage with real-world situations where environmental, social, and political interests intersect.
Who Can Apply
This programme is open to Master's and PhD students, and postdoctoral fellows, in Environmental Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Geography, Sociology, Urban Planning, Agricultural Sciences, Sustainability Studies, Conflict Resolution, Public Policy, and related fields. A minimum B2 level of English is required.
