The EUNICoast General Assembly in Dubrovnik brought together the Alliance's key bodies and stakeholders to take stock of progress and look ahead to the next phase of development. The Board of Rectors meeting, held as part of the event, marked an important step in the Alliance's development, bringing together institutional leaders to review progress and help shape the next phase of EUNICoast's growth.
A key milestone of the meeting was the endorsement of the EUNICoast Framework Alliance Agreement. This document sets out the shared vision, long-term direction and common commitments that bring the partner universities together under EUNICoast, giving formal expression to the Alliance as more than a project: as a collective, strategic endeavour with a common horizon for institutional transformation across education, research, innovation, community engagement and territorial impact.
The endorsement is significant because it strengthens EUNICoast's foundation at a decisive moment in its development. The Agreement confirms that the Alliance is built not only around current activities and funding opportunities, but around a broader, long-term ambition to deepen cooperation and progressively embed the Alliance within each member institution. For EUNICoast, it sends a strong signal of unity, commitment and maturity, showing that member universities are aligning around a shared purpose and are prepared to work together over the long term to shape a European University Alliance with lasting value for their institutions, their territories and the wider European higher education landscape.
Beyond the Agreement, the Board also discussed the first elements of the Alliance's long-term strategic direction, including institutional uptake, impact, and preparation for the mid-term evaluation. Financial sustainability was another important topic, with early reflection on how EUNICoast can build a more resilient future through stronger institutional embedding and diversified funding.
Overall, the meeting confirmed that EUNICoast is entering a new stage marked by greater consolidation, strategic maturity and long-term commitment from its member universities.
