Across EUNICoast, the work of building a shared research culture is well underway, driven by Work Package 3 (Research and Innovation).
The EUNICoast Common Research Agenda is taking shape. Teaching and Research Hubs have been contributing to a public consultation running across all partner universities from late February to mid-March. The agenda is on track to be finalised by the end of April.
On the Open Science front, the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin (ZUT) has designed an intensive online training programme for researchers and librarians. Two differentiated courses will be delivered in English, mostly asynchronously, with two editions planned for 2026 and 2028. The programme will be integrated into the EUNICoast Catalogue of Microcredentials.
Also progressing are the Digital Research Observatories, including a pilot to monitor the evolution of coastal land-cover/land-use designed to meet FAIR data standards and interoperability requirements. As land-cover/land-use change and degradation is one of the greatest threats to sustainable development in islands and coastal areas, this digital observatory will support the development of research and innovation actions across different EUNICoast Teaching and Research Hubs.
With a common research agenda on the horizon and new tools for open science already in development, the alliance's research community is gaining both direction and momentum.
