EUNICoast has reached a significant milestone in its digital development: the EUNICoast Virtual Campus is now available at campus.eunicoast.eu.
Led by the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin (ZUT) as part of the Digital Campus & Shared Infrastructures Commission (WP6), the Virtual Campus gives students, researchers and administrative staff across all 13 partner institutions single-point access to shared digital services, using their own university credentials via the EduGAIN federated identity infrastructure.
What the Virtual Campus offer
The platform currently provides two core services.
The Course Catalogue brings together, for the first time, the full educational offering of the alliance in one searchable space. Using the European Learning Model as a metadata standard, the catalogue already contains over 33,000 courses in 11 languages, spanning undergraduate, master's, doctoral and lifelong learning programmes. Five partner universities have completed their data integration; the remaining seven are actively integrating their catalogues. The adoption of the European Learning Model as a metadata standard is a distinctive feature of the EUNICoast approach, and the catalogue will serve as the foundation for future microcredential provision
The eLearning Platform, built on open-source Moodle software, is accessible directly from the Virtual Campus dashboard via Single Sign-On. Developed in collaboration with the Education Commission (WP2), it already hosts methodological courses aligned with the EUNICoast learning model.
A contribution to European interoperability
The Virtual Campus has been designed in line with the European Higher Education Interoperability Framework (HEIF). EUNICoast is an active participant in the HEIF Early Adopters programme, currently implementing Use Case 1 (Discovery) and Use Case 7 (User Identity).
The launch of the Virtual Campus marks a concrete step in building a shared digital environment that reflects EUNICoast's commitment to accessible, interoperable and collaborative higher education across Europe's coastal and island territories.
